Design Operations Model & Design System Creation

The goal of DesignOps is to optimize the processes and workflows of the people, practices, and tools surrounding design team operations in order to improve the overall quality and efficiency of the design team’s craft.

In this exploratory project, I examined the different levels and facets of DesignOps through the lens of BJC Healthcare. To achieve this, I took on the role of a BJC technology employee proposing a new design team to the company by developing an overview of our designOps needs, an operating model graphic, our design principles, a design team career ladder, defined our metrics for success and maturity, and developed a Figma design system consisting of our branded design styles and functional components to be used in our product design workflow.
